I have done Web Design in Eugene Oregon for about 9 years now. I started a freelancer and then more recently had the opportunity to start a full-scale marketing company. Bema Creative was birthed out of the minds of myself and Chris Moore to start a branding and web design company.
Over those years I have seen design trends and changes in technology for web development change drastically. This article is a brief introduction to the process we go through for the ever-changing world of web design.
STRATEGY
Everything in marketing should be backed by strategy and web design is no different. This is the starting point for any web designer. What are the clients needs? What are their pain points? These are questions that need to be asked. The approach to design is much different for getting traffic to a website than for someone who is using their website as a resource for current customers.
Every time I go to create a website I want to know why they are needing a new or updated site and what can I do to improve on what they are currently doing. A website can look amazing, but if it doesn’t accomplish the goals of a client then I have failed as a web designer.
BRANDING
UX
User experience is another part of the design concept that is crucial to a website. 38% of people will stop engaging with a website if the content/layout is unattractive according to reports from Adobe. This is why it is so crucial to have a great user experience on your companies website so that you won’t lose out on potential customers!
People want an easy to use website that also is visually engaging. If they can’t find what they need within seconds of visiting your website then the likelihood that they will leave is high. Designing a website with the user experience in mind means that you craft each and every page from the view of a visitor. From the layout of the content to the calls to action, you want everything to be a balance of great user experience while still conveying the brand identity of your company.
HOSTING
Hosting is another important aspect of web design. Hosting ties into UX due to the fact that if your server that is hosting your site is not fast enough to load, then you will lose visitors fast.
